The 'Female Focus: Confronting Gender Stereotypes' symposium and exhibition looks particularly at how women challenge gender stereotypes by both being photographers and specifically making work that confronts the issue. A panel of five female photographers, Vicki Haines, Trish Morrissey, Deb Allen, Dr Dawn Woolley, Kirsty Mackay and Karen Roswell, discuss their work, motivation and experiences, accompanied by an exhibition of their work. The event is chaired by Dr Julia Peck.

The very brave people on my video who talk candidly about their own experiences are an inspiration to me. Drugs (An old college project) This project was a heartfelt attempt to speak out against the real life damage that drug use can bring, not only on the self, but those around who have to suffer the consequences. Whilst I used an actor to play the part, all of the stories are transcripts from real people talking about their real lives. |
